The Dance of Deception
by Kennedy Greenfelder
Dance dance dance
In a circle of us and your supposed credibility
Dance dance dance
Hands on my arm and waist I feel your stability
One step
“It’s ok”
Two step
“Don’t worry”
Dance dance dance
I can feel you breathe out you won’t hurt me
Spin spin spin
We twirl until the worlds a sparkling blurry
Spin spin spin
Nothing is solid not my sharp instincts not your duplicity
Spin spin spin
Your long fluid moves lull me into state of ease
Until you stop. So I must too.
your eyes drew away to her and I see
Your hand drops from my arm and waist
that dance was never meant for me
One step back
“It wasn’t a lie”
Two steps back
“I’m sorry”
Dance dance dance
It takes two to tango but you’ve made a crowd of three
So you turn your back and cut me out
You take all your false promises and you two dance dance dance away from me
