And so fadeth the flower of April..

With the onset of brumal times

Lost are those stars in her eyes

That once looked upon me so tenderly

That innocent nature was left in the days of yore

It was the hour of mine youth

When the utterings of mine tongue were loose

Now I see a new curiosity in her eyes

One that would give way to many a conflict

Lost are those days full of gaiety and merriment

When her lips still left their mark upon my cheek

Now that was fourscore and three years ago

In the adolescence of the universe

Since then her eyes have cried o’er many a hearse

And kissed a myriad of lips

Mine hearted beated for her and her alone

Yet on the rocks fell my pleas

Lost is she to the depths of the sea

To join the ranks of beauty below
